Burdett Trust for Nursing Launches Trustee Recruitment Campaign The Burdett Trust for Nursing is seeking new Trustees to help shape the future of nursing and healthcare at a pivotal moment in the charity's development. The recruitment comes as the Trust prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary and embarks on an ambitious new strategic direction focused on nurse-led innovation, leadership and health advocacy. As the UK’s largest grant-making trust dedicated to nursing, the Burdett Trust has awarded more than £65 million in grants since 2002, supporting projects that have transformed care, strengthened nursing leadership and improved health outcomes in the UK and around the world. The Trust is currently refreshing its Board as several long-serving Trustees retire and prepares for a new chapter under incoming Chair Elect Evy Hambro. The organisation is particularly keen to hear from individuals who can bring diverse perspectives and expertise in areas including law, digital and AI, international health policy, and research. The Trust’s vision is “a world where nurses are innovators shaping a healthier society”, with a mission to support nurse-led innovation that drives better care, equity and wellbeing across society. Future priorities include thinking creatively about nursing’s future and our role as system leaders and advocates for health equity. Trustees play a vital role in setting the strategic direction of the charity, overseeing governance and ensuring the Trust continues to maximise its impact for nursing and healthcare. Board meetings are held four times a year, alongside committee involvement and an annual away day. The Burdett Trust is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Applications are now open. Interested candidates are invited to submit a CV and covering letter addressed to Donna Kinnair, Chair of the Nominations Committee, outlining how their skills and experience match the role requirements.
