Nicola Dunlop, Nurse Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London

The Burdett Nursing Trust grant gave me the opportunity to introduce new ways of working and improve the care we provide.

The Burdett Nursing Trust grant was one of the first grants I ever applied for – and successfully received.

My patients were incredibly supportive. They were vocal about the difference the work made and I was honoured to receive an award in recognition of it. I’m so proud of what we achieved.

I’ve also helped to establish patient-focused groups, giving patients the opportunity to connect with one another in the waiting room before clinic begins – to discuss their conditions, share experiences and exchange practical tips.

I’m deeply proud to be a nurse and to provide care to the wonderful people I meet every day.

The Burdett Nursing Trust grant enabled me, first and foremost, to undertake my research study. It also gave me the opportunity to introduce new ways of working and improve the care we provide.
