Neighbourhood Health: Community Engagement Awards

Neighbourhood health is central to improving population health, reducing inequalities and delivering care closer to home.

Nurses, midwives and health visitors are leaders in neighbourhood health, supporting communities to prevent ill health and shape services that reflect local need.

The Neighbourhood Health: Community Engagement Awards from the Burdett Trust for Nursing support nurse‑led, co‑produced initiatives that engage under‑served or minoritised communities. These small grants can be used to enhance existing work or start new projects that listen to community voices and address health inequity.

Neighbourhoods may be defined by place or shared experience, such as care homes, faith groups or schools. In addition to funding, successful applicants will join a community of practice to share learning and support.

Please see our grant guidance materials below which we hope helps make applying to us as easy and straightforward as possible.

Opens for applications – 11 March

Please read our application guidelines carefully. They will tell you everything you need to know including:

  • About the programme
  • What we do and don’t fund
  • Who can apply
  • Grant size

This document sets out the questions on the application form and gives guidance on what should be submitted in each field.

We have standard grant terms and conditions. They lay out key things relating to our grants and cover your responsibility to update us about any important changes. Accepting our grant means that you are happy to accept these conditions.

We strongly suggest that you use the MS Word version to prepare your application. We have worked had to ensure that our online form is editable, but applicants generally find it is easier to prepare as a document which makes it easy to share with critical friends and make changes before uploading into Formstack.
