The Bench focuses on the hugely under-funded, under-serviced issue of mental health by providing clinical care in a rural African community. Support from Burdett Trust has helped bring this grassroot idea to fruition with funding for a community bench, a part-time midwife and capacity to do research.
Changing minds and sharing knowledge in order to bridge the gap that exists between midwives and the local people of underserved communities thereby preventing maternal and child mortality and morbidity.
Treatment for pressure ulcers is extremely expensive with a total cost being £1.4-£2.1 billion per year and this accounts for 4% of the annual NHS budget. Funding from the Burdett Trust for Nursing, has granted Dr Liang Liu the ability to lead vital research into pressure ulcer prevention.
With increased confidence to lead and drive service improvement, participants cite The Inspiring Leadership Programme as the catalyst to them successfully obtaining more senior roles within palliative care.
A garden celebrating the nursing profession in the 21st century and inspired by the legacy of Florence Nightingale, will finally be unveiled at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on 20th September, with a re-imagined planting palette of late summer flowers and grasses.
On 22nd June, the Nursing Now Challenge and the World Innovation Summit for Health, along with academic partners The BMJ, will join forces to celebrate the launch of the following publications – Nursing and Climate Change: Meeting the moment; Nursing 2.0: Where next for nursing?; and Nurses for Health Equity.
As a result of generous funding received from the Burdett Trust for Nursing, the Florence Nightingale Foundation provided a leadership programme for 42 Learning Disability Nurses working across the UK. The programme aimed to enhance the authority and influence of Learning Disability Nurses to enable them to assert their specialist knowledge and advocate for the best possible care for people with a learning disability.
