Membership

Membership to the Nursing Now Challenge is free and provides access to a rich programme of events, activities, and accredited courses – all designed in direct response to the needs of students and early-career professionals around the world.

Global Community

Today, more than 250,000 student and early-career nurses and midwives from 156 countries are part of this growing global community. At its core, the Nursing Now Challenge is about building a global community of peers. Through cross-country collaboration, members strengthen their collective voice and influence within healthcare systems. The Challengers’ Committee Regional Hubs and storytelling platforms like the Grassroots podcast create spaces for shared learning, dialogue and leadership development.

Opportunities

The Nursing Now Challenge works with health employers, universities, colleges and global partners to create leadership development opportunities for its members. These opportunities include leadership workshops, thematic webinars with international experts, mentoring programmes and participation in global discussions. The Nursing Now Challenge Global Solutions Initiative, for example, brings nurses and midwives together from around the world to connect, share experiences and develop innovative responses to global health challenges. The initiative provides a platform for participants to showcase their expertise, share ideas and learn from leading experts across healthcare and academia.

Together we lead

The Nursing Now Challenge also supports members to strengthen their advocacy and policy engagement, giving student and early-career nurses and midwives the confidence and visibility to influence health policy at local, national and international levels. The WHO’s Global Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery (2021–2025) recognised the Nursing Now Challenge as a key campaign supporting investment in workforce development, leadership and education.

Next chapter

The Nursing Now Challenge builds on the legacy of the Nightingale Challenge and demonstrates the power, potential and influence of the nursing and midwifery workforce in shaping the future of global health. The introduction of Professor Gemma Stacey as Programme Director marks an important next step for the programme, bringing deep expertise in mental health nursing, person-centred leadership and academic partnership. Her appointment supports the Nursing Now Challenge’s next phase of growth as it continues scaling its global impact.
