Our strategy The Burdett Trust for Nursing is the largest grant-making trust for nursing in the UK with an exceptional global reach and reputation. Our focus is nurses and nursing across every setting, improving the lives of individuals, families and communities. We champion and unleash the creative power of nursing, inspiring and supporting those who drive meaningful change.Nursing faces unprecedented challenges with demand continuing to rise. We have a responsibility to direct our funding where it will have the greatest impact and to empower nurses as they support the health of our nations. By working more strategically and collaboratively, we can be even more effective. In 2025, the Trust undertook a comprehensive strategic review, refreshing our vision, mission, purpose and future direction to ensure our grant-making is fit for this moment. our way forward Over the next five years, we will create partnerships that bring active hope and positive change. We will build on all that we have learned since our foundation in 2002. We will convene brave conversations which bring together nurse leaders at every level, as well as policymakers and funders to enable innovation in the present and to imagine a radically different future, where: relational care is central digital innovation is embraced creativity is unleashed prevention is prioritised sustainable, equitable health for all is realised This vision will shape our strategic pillars of grant-making and partnerships, supported by our investments and governance.
