The Churchill Fellowship Activate Fund

The Burdett Trust for Nursing and the Churchill Fellowship have been partners since 2013, working together to support nurses and healthcare practitioners across the UK. Over more than a decade, the partnership has co-funded 63 Churchill Fellows working across health and social care.

This year, the Churchill Fellowship has launched Activate, a new fund supported by the Burdett Trust for Nursing, which gives Churchill Fellows additional funding and capacity-building support to turn their Fellowship learning into practical action.

The Activate fund will run for at least five annual cycles, giving Churchill Fellows the opportunity to develop and deliver projects that create lasting change. There will be 20 grants awarded in 2026, increasing to 30 by 2028. As part of the partnership with the Burdett Trust, three grants in each of the first three years will be awarded to nurses.

Activate is open to Churchill Fellows in the Burdett Trust’s network who have been invited to apply and who want to turn their findings into lasting change. This includes, but is not limited to, Fellows whose original Churchill Fellowships were co-funded by the Burdett Trust.

This year’s funding cycle is open for applications until Monday 22 June. More information can be found on the Churchill Fellowship’s website about the Activate fund and the Fellows who have been supported by the Burdett Trust.
