Working Together with Homeless Families – Inclusion Health Toolkit for Professionals The toolkit has been developed to support practitioners who work with families experiencing homelessness or living in temporary accommodation. Funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing, the Inclusion Health Toolkit brings together practical guidance to help professionals identify vulnerability, understand the complex needs of homeless families, and to work more effectively across agencies. It includes information on recognising risk and safeguarding concerns, improving communication between organisations, supporting children’s health and development, and strengthening coordinated responses between health, housing, education and community services. The toolkit has been developed by Lisa Gavin, Anne Dowling and Jane Cook, who have brought their extensive experience and learning from working with vulnerable families into this practical resource. As part of this work, they are currently piloting a practical assessment tool designed to support professionals when visiting homeless families, helping them identify needs, risks and opportunities for early support. They are inviting practitioners and organisations to review the tool and provide feedback before it is incorporated into the fuller toolkit. If you would like to view the assessment tool or take part in the pilot and share your feedback, please contact Anne Dowling. Once completed the toolkit will be available here.
