Derek Barron, Erskine Veterans Charity

Burdett is there to support you if you're doing innovative stuff

We are Scotland’s largest veterans charity

When we received the grant from the Burdett Trust for Nursing, we quickly went back to them and said we would like to use the money to invest in our staff so they can go and do further academic studies.

So far, four members of staff have used this funding for different purposes. These are opportunities they would not have had without the support from Burdett.

It is not just a one-time support. Burdett understands that real change takes time. It takes time to invest in people, to build leadership and to develop more knowledge and skills.

Burdett is not only focused on the NHS. It also supports social care. It is not about which field or service you work in. It is about nursing itself and how nurses grow, lead and improve the way they deliver care.

We feel we’re actually living what Burdett Trust are trying to do.
