Burdett celebrate Trustees’ week
Trustees’ week is an annual celebration of the pivotal role that trustees play in the strengthening of civil society. There are nearly a million trustees across the UK. Trustees give their time to supporting the good governance of the charity sector.
At the Burdett Trust for Nursing, we are fortunate to have eleven expert Trustees many of whom have been loyal supporters over many years. We are truly grateful for their wisdom and guidance as we navigate challenging times for health and social care and discern the space that is ours – to support nurses as they make an extraordinary difference to the lives of citizens.
As part of our own celebrations, we have invited Burdett trustees to share their thoughts about what being a trustee means to them.

Audrey Ardern-Jones OBE
Being a Trustee is truly rewarding. I’m proud to support a charity that improves lives through grant-giving and meaningful partnerships. Seeing beneficiaries showcase their work is inspiring and collaborating with our brilliant Board makes it even better.

Janice Stevens CBE
Being a Trustee is a privilege. I draw on years of experience to help ensure our charity’s resources truly benefit nurses, nursing practice, and patient care. The innovation and passion in our grant applications never fail to inspire.

Rachael Corser
Being a trustee for the Burdett Trust is both an honour and a privilege. As a registered nurse, I truly understand how helping to shape the future of nursing by supporting initiatives that empower nurses, elevate their voices and improve patient care is both rewarding and challenging. I take pride in balancing stewardship with strategy for a charity that’s advancing the world’s most trusted profession.

Dame Christine Beasley DBE
It has been a privilege to have been a Trustee at Burdett. I have met so many inspirational nurses with ideas of how to improve health and health services in the UK and globally. To anyone thinking of becoming a trustee I would encourage them to take that step. You will receive more than you give.
